Williams College 50th Reunion

Miatela Studio collaborated with Gayle Mandle, who was heading the committee responsible for the 50th reunion item that the wives of Williams' graduates would wear at the reunion weekend (this past June) as they marched with the alumni of the graduating class
year 1963.

This design is a replica of the original handwritten bequest of Ephraim Williams. His signature is superimposed much larger  at one end and at the other is the Williams' seal. It was silkscreened on
a lightweight rayon fabric.

Holiday Gathering and Art Sale

ones in a beautiful setting in Marion, MA, hosted by 

Kate Ross and Phoebe Perry.

Fundraiser - Church of the Redeemer, Chestnut Hill, MA

      We had beautiful weather and a great event this

      past weekend in beautiful Chestnut Hill. Spring trees

      were in full bloom and the sun was shining. I now enjoy

      seeing old friends and meeting new ones. I always

      appreciate those who attend and also the talented

      people who are selling their beautiful, creative,

      functional, and inspired products.

Holiday Show at Chestnut Hill, MA

December 3 & 4, 2010 - Church of the Redeemer, Chestnut Hill, MA - Miatela Studio was there with silk scarves. This holiday show included some wonderful work by artists, designers, craftspeople in a wide variety of  areas. It was great to meet so many people doing creative work and to meet the community that came to shop.  I grew up in Worcester, MA and went to college in Boston, before going to graduate school in Florence, Italy. And I lived in Boston for the first 4 years of my marriage (where my daughter was born) so it was really interesting driving down Rte. 9 again and seeing all the changes. I do go to Chestnut Hill from time to time, but certainly not as frequently as when I lived in Boston.

It was really great to see many friends from the time when I lived and worked in Worcester - at the Worcester Art Museum.

Neal's shop was beautiful and a lovely intimate setting for Meg's and my work.

Clad in - Wayland Square - Paintings, Prints, Fabrics

I hope to see many of my Providence and Massachusetts friends at the reception at Clad in, Wayland Square, Providence - Thursday, November 11th from 5 pm to 8 pm!

Thanks to everyone who stopped by the event this past weekend. There were so many beautiful displays to see, gifts to buy and friends to greet. It was a lovely time for all.

The Miatela Studio silk scarves and shawls were on display along with Meg Savage's beautiful jewelry. You can see the display at the left. Hope we will be here again next year!

 

Rotch Jones Duff House and Garden Museum

TRUNK SHOW
Visit the Rotch Jones Duff House and Garden Museum, New Bedford, Mass. on Friday, October 29th and Saturday, October 30th, to see some original designs by local artists and designers. The Trunk Show will include Miatela Studio artist/designer Pat Coomey Thornton along with others.  Doors are open from 4:00 to 7:00 on Friday evening and from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm on Saturday. Stop by and say hello!

Wrapped and Tied in Nantucket

Pat Coomey Thornton will show some Miatela scarves and shawls in an exhibit called "Wrapped and Tied in the Summertime" to be held at the Nantucket Island School of Design & the Arts on Wauwinet Road, from
July 14th to 26th. Please drop by if you are on the island!

New lightweight silk chiffon shawls are now at Clad In, Wayland Square, Providence. They are very luxurious and great for summer parties and any air-conditioned place where you need a little (unique and beautiful, of course) cover for your arms and shoulders.

Scarves and Prints in Chestnut Hill

Pat Coomey Thornton exhibited Scarves and Prints from Miatela Studio with Meg Perry Savage, who exhibited her jewelry in Chestnut Hill, MA for the Spring Fair Market event held by the Church of the Redeemer.

  It was great to meet new people who are making beautiful objects and to make new friends in the Boston  area.
